Introduction
In this guide, we're going to learn how to prepare ourselves for the upcoming launch of the InkChain testnet.
What is Ink?
Ink is an Ethereum Layer 2 blockchain, developed on Optimism and designed as the DeFi hub for the Superchain. Launched by Kraken, Ink offers an efficient and secure base layer for deploying innovative DeFi protocols, promoting on-chain financial sovereignty with low fees, fast transactions, and seamless interoperability across the Superchain network. Key features include:
- Speed: 1-second block times from launch, with sub-second blocks planned.
- Low Fees: Minimal gas costs make DeFi more accessible.
- Security: Sequencer-level security with Kraken’s decade-long expertise.
- Interoperability: Capital flows easily across Superchain’s interconnected chains.
- User Experience: Aggregation, automation, and abstraction simplify DeFi for users.
- Developer Support: Extensive resources, workshops, and funding for builders.
- EVM Compatibility: Supports all Ethereum-compatible code, fostering integration across chains.
Ink integrates Kraken’s infrastructure to provide a streamlined DeFi experience from fiat conversion to advanced financial applications, all while scaling Ethereum’s potential with an open-source, Optimism-based stack for enhanced performance and accessibility.
