Introduction

In this guide, we're going to take a look at Variational Omni Testnet & how to interact with it.

What is Variational?

Variational is a peer-to-peer trading protocol designed for secure, automated trading of perpetuals, options, futures, and other derivatives. It streamlines trading and clearing processes for safe, bilateral trading. The protocol currently supports two applications: Omni, a retail-friendly app for permissionless leveraged trading across various assets (such as pre-market tokens, predictions, and memecoins), and Pro, a platform tailored for advanced trading of complex derivatives.

Step 1

First, let's head over to the website and submit our email for the mainnet waitlist so that we can ensure we're prepared for a potential future airdrop.

Step 2

Now let's launch the testnet: omni.testnet.variational.io/perpetual/ETH & connect our wallet.

In this example, I'll be using OKX wallet.

Step 3

Now we need to press the wallet address drop-down in the top-right corner, select "Test USDC Faucet" & request some test tokens.

Now press the "Transfer" button and deposit the full amount of tokens from the Wallet Balance to the Account Balance.

Step 4

Now we can start interacting with the platform.

To create a BUY position, we need to use the slider on the right to choose how much of our test funds we want to use.

For this example, I'll choose 12%.

Press "Buy ETH" and confirm transaction with wallet.

After that, you should see your open positions listed underneath the chart.
