Introduction

In this guide, we will explore Walrus Staking on SUI & learn how to stake WAL through their platform.

What is Walrus?

Walrus is an advanced decentralized storage network designed for data and rich media content, including large text files, videos, images, and audio. By utilizing erasure coding technology, Walrus ensures high data availability and reliability with minimal replication, optimizing cost efficiency. Built on Sui as its coordination layer, Walrus can scale to hundreds or even thousands of decentralized storage nodes while maintaining strong performance.

Step 1

First, we need to install & setup a SUI wallet browser extension.

For this guide, I will use Sui Wallet on Google: chromewebstore.google.com/detail/sui-wallet/

Step 2

Now we need to claim some test tokens from the faucet: faucet.blockbolt.io

You should receive 1 SUI shortly.

If you don't see it, you may need to go into the wallet Settings and switch from mainnet to testnet.

Step 3

Now head over to: stake.walrus.site & connect your SUI wallet.

Step 4

Now select "Get WAL" in the top-right corner.

Insert any amount of test SUI & hit "Exchange".

Approve transaction with wallet.

Step 5

Now scroll down and find the list of available nodes, choose one and hit "Stake".

Insert any amount of WAL & press "Stake".

Try to repeat these steps several times over the next few weeks to ensure a good amount of network activity!

The minimum is 1 WAL, so you may need to use the faucet again.

Step 6

Finally, let's head over to the Walrus Galxe campaign & complete some tasks: app.galxe.com/quest/Walrus/GCW4GtxnAo

After completing all the quests, you can mint the Walrus Explorer NFT, but it does require you to have at least 1 SUI in your wallet on mainnet (not testnet).
