Intro

Ledger Live

Ledger Live is the main interface used with Ledger Nano devices so that you can track and store your cryptocurrencies as well as buy and sell crypto assets using their 3rd party providers.
When you have Ledger Live installed you need to make sure you have the latest firmware installed and the Hedera app installed on the Ledger device.

WallaWallet

Walla Wallet is a free iOS cryptocurrency wallet app, mainly focused on the storage of Hedera Hashgraph (HBAR). This app is used to create the actual wallet address, then we simply link the new wallet to our Ledger device through MyHbarWallet.

My Hbar Wallet

MyHbarWallet is a website that allows us to access our Ledger device and use it with the Hedera address we create within WallaWallet.

Important! Please make sure you have downloaded the WallaWallet app on your mobile device & created an Account ID on there first before starting this guide! You will need the Account ID later to finish the setup

Step 1

Lets start by navigating to the MyHbarWallet homepage.

Here we can see the green button labelled: "Create Wallet", Click it to start the setup.

Next we will be given a choice on whether to setup a 'Software Wallet' or a 'Hardware Wallet', in this guide we will be selecting the 'Hardware' option.

Now select Ledger & Connect your Ledger Nano.

Make sure you have closed any other programs that are currently using your Ledger Nano, Also, if you see some red text telling you to switch browsers then you may need to do that, this is just because some browsers don't support the web USB reader (I noticed an issue with Firefox).

Step 2

Now you can unlock your Ledger and open up the Hedera Hashgraph App.

Now go back to your browser, now you should be able to hit the 'continue' button which will bring you to the Hedera Account ID screen (Seen in the 2nd picture below)

On your Ledger device you should see "Export Public Key #0 ?" go right and hit "Approve".

On MyHbarWallet, scroll down and scan the QR Code with the WallaWallet app (Check Step 3 to see how to do this!)

Step 3

Now we need to Connect WallaWallet to MyHbarWallet.

For this you will need to download WallaWallet on iOS or Android.

Insert wallet name & copy recovery phrase to a secure location, you will need this later.

* STORE YOUR RECOVERY PHRASE IN A SAFE PLACE AND DO NOT SHARE IT WITH ANYONE *

It will ask you to repeat the recovery phrase then show a "Success!" screen.

Select "Add or Restore Account".

Select "New Account".

Insert Account Name (optional..).

Now you should have an Account ID (Hedera Address), but this is not the one we will be using for our Ledger.

The reason we create this Account ID is just so that we can generate a new Account ID using the Public Key through MyHbarWallet which will specifically be for our Ledger device.

Step 4

Now we need to go to the WallaWallet Settings & "Enable Advanced Features"

This allows us to create an account using Public Key.

Go back to your Account & select the "+".

Now select "New Account for Public Key"

Remember to have at least 1 HBAR in your wallet to setup a new Account ID for the Ledger Nano

Then "Scan Public Key QR Code"

Finally, just scan the QR Code seen on MyHbarWallet!

So now you should see your brand new Account ID!

This new Account ID (Hedera Address) will be automatically cached to your Ledger device so that when you open LedgerLive it will be detected.

Step 5

Now let's connect to Ledger Live!

Making sure to leave your Ledger plugged into your PC, you can now close your browser (MyHbarWallet) and open LedgerLive, Select Add Account, Select Hedera and it should automatically detect the newly created Account ID!

You're now ready to start sending HBAR to LedgerLive!
